Be Still: A Christian Guided Meditation
Inspired by the scripture, “Be still, and know that I am God,” Psalm 46:10, Be Still is a Christian-based guided meditation experience designed to create space for people to slow down, become mindful, and intentionally connect with God. It is an opportunity to blend faith and wellness by recognizing that our bodies are God’s temple (1 Corinthians 6:19–20) and that caring for our whole selves can include learning to become still in His presence.
This experience goes beyond simply quoting Scripture and hoping our lives will change. Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). We often know the verse but may not know what it practically looks like to come to Him. Guided meditation can provide a structured practice for becoming still, quieting the noise around us, reflecting on God’s Word, and intentionally turning our attention toward Him.
In that stillness, we cultivate mindfulness that can restore and renew us. Scripture tells us that transformation begins with a renewed mind (Romans 12:2), and that the peace of God can guard our hearts and minds even in circumstances we cannot immediately change (Philippians 4:6–7). The goal, therefore, is not to find peace because our circumstances have changed; it is to receive God’s peace while in it.
When our minds are renewed by God’s truth, that renewal begins to influence how we speak, how we think, and ultimately how we behave. As people created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), we are invited to reflect our Creator—not by possessing His divine power, but by allowing His character and truth to shape the way we live. A changed mind can produce changed words; changed words can influence changed behaviors, and changed behaviors can contribute to a changed life.
This is why Be Still is not simply a sensory experience or a brief moment of relaxation or euphoria. Although participants may experience physical and emotional benefits from becoming still, the deeper purpose is spiritual transformation: learning to abide in God so that His peace becomes something we carry with us, rather than something dependent upon what is happening around us.
Jesus says, “Remain in me, as I also remain in you… apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:4–5). He also teaches that abiding produces fruit—fruit that remains. The fruit is the evidence of a life being transformed through continued connection with God.
The invitation is simple: Be still. Know God. Receive His peace. Renew your mind. Abide in Him. And allow the fruit of that connection to transform the way you live.
